Abstract

On March 23rd 1999, a set of TRACE observations in the 171 Å (FeIX ) bandpass was made of active region AR 8496. A wavelet analysis of a bright loop-footpoint to the south west of this active region displays outward propagating perturbations with periods 180-420 seconds at approximately 70-165 km s-1. We suggest that these oscillations are slow magneto-acoustic waves propagating along the loop, carrying an estimated energy flux of [FORMULA] ergs cm-2 s-1.
