Late formation of quark stars and their possible survival

Abstract

We have studied the late formation of quark stars at a temperature much lower than the quark-hadron phase transition temperature by calculating the rate of formation of hadron bubbles for interacting quark gluon plasma and hadron gas and by incorporating the effect of curvature energy. This is essential to resolve the horizon problem as well as the survivability of these objects. We find that a small change in surface tension results in a large variation in the size and mass of these objects and a mass of the order of [FORMULA] to one solar mass requires a rather large value of the surface tension.
