Received 19 February 1999 / Accepted 13 December 1999 Abstract Spatio-Kinematic observations were made on NGC 246 in the [OIII] 5007Å line using an Imaging Fabry-Perot Spectrometer. Evidence for the deceleration effect was found in the leading edge of the nebular shell, possibly due to its interaction with the interstellar medium. Further, we show that the [OIII] electron temperature derived from spectrographic data in the leading half is larger than that in the trailing half possibly due to the compressional heating. Key words: ISM: planetary nebulae: individual: NGC
