The formation of bars and disks in Markarian starburst galaxies

In our article we note the following two errors:

  1. The dimensions given in the text, in Table 1, figures 2 and 3, for the four samples studied in this article, are in fact the isophotal diameters (D25), not the isophotal radii (R25). The diameters were estimated using H0 = 25 km/s/Mpc.

  2. The median radius for Sab/Sb types (last paragraph of section 3), taken from the article by Robert & Haynes, has to be corrected for the different value of H0 used in our work. Converted into diameter, this yields a corrected median diameter of 33.5 kpc, which is consistent with the values found for normal spiral galaxies in the sample of Mathewson & Ford.

These corrections do not affect the main result of our article, which is that the Markarian starburst nucleus galaxies have smaller dimensions than normal spiral galaxies with comparable morphologies. Our conclusions are consequently unchanged.
