Received 22 May 2000 / Accepted 23 October 2000 Abstract Observations have been made using the University of Durham Mark 6
telescope of the nearby X-ray selected BL Lacs PKS 2005-489 and PKS
0548-322 which should be strong candidates as sources of TeV emission.
We find no evidence for long-term emission of VHE gamma rays from
these sources in extended measurements covering
