Metal abundances of A-type stars in three galactic clusters *

Investigations have been carried out for 11 A stars in young open clusters ([FORMULA] Per, Coma, and Praesepe) and three field stars by means of high resolution spectroscopy. Detailed abundance analyses have been made for Mg, Ca, Sc, Cr, Fe, and Ni.

The results are discussed in the framework of element stratification processes as invoked by time-dependent diffusion mechanisms in Am stars. The youngest cluster of our sample, [FORMULA] Per, seems to show some untypical abundance patterns which might be identified as early Am phases.
