Distance to the spiral galaxy NGC 6503 situated in the Local Void

Abstract

Based on photometry of the brightest stars in the galaxy NGC 6503 we derive its distance to be 5.2 Mpc. Being located within the Local Void, NGC 6503, as well as the other isolated spiral NGC 6946, has a significant km/s) peculiar velocity toward the observer.
