Appendix A

The SFRs of the different Hubble types have been obtained by constraining the spectrophotometric galaxy models with the present day gas fraction, metal content and UBV colours. This work is part of an unpublished Master Degree Thesis (Auddino, University of Padova 1992).

The results for spiral galaxies are shown in Table 8. The first column gives the age in years while the others show the SFR in arbitrary units for each type. Table 9 gives the resulting average and present metallicity, the present SFR (in [FORMULA] if the galactic mass is [FORMULA]) and fraction of gaseous mass for an age of 16 Gyr.
