5. Conclusions
We observed 54 Hickson Compact Groups, from which 41 were detected
in the 21-cm line of HI. The total number of HCGs observed in HI
increased to 75. Apart from a few HI-rich groups we find a great
number of HCGs to have ![[FORMULA]](img1.gif)
ratios in the expected
range. However, there are many groups with extreme HI-deficiencies as
compared to nearby groups and to aggregates known for HI-deficiency
like the Coma I group and the Virgo cluster.
