5. Conclusions

New criteria of quantitative spectral classification have been introduced and the method of stepwise linear regression to these criteria for quantitative spectral classification of stars has been applied by means of the Bochum photoelectric spectra. The desirablity of a new MK calibration has been motivated. We hope to continue the analysis with the use of the additional Bochum data. Our technique may equally well be applied to other similar sets of spectral data (atlases of MK standards, stellar spectral libraries, etc.)
