4. Conclusions

Mapping five fields at different ecliptic latitudes we determined an upper limit on the observed brightness fluctuations of [FORMULA] 0.2 % at 25 [FORMULA] m, corresponding to [FORMULA] 25 mJy in the [FORMULA] beam at high ecliptic latitudes. This supports the concept of a generally smooth zodiacal light distribution. Faint source counts at brightness levels down to [FORMULA] 5 mJy at 60 [FORMULA] m or 90 [FORMULA] m will not be affected by potential small-scale zodiacal light structures.
