The aim of this paper is to report on new theoretical insights into nonlinear modelling RR Lyrae double mode pulsations which poses a longstanding and well known problem in the field of stellar pulsation theory (e.g. Kovács, 1993). We demonstrate that stable double mode pulsations with parameters comparable to observations can be computed within the framework of state-of-the-art radiation hydrodynamics including time-dependent turbulent convection.
