Abstract
The band-integrated absorption oscillator strengths of the CO
A (11 v' 23)-X (v"=0)
transition have been measured using monochromatized synchrotron
radiation from the LURE-SuperACO facility as background source. The
absorption spectra were analyzed using the simulation-fitting
technique described in an earlier publication (Jolly et al. 1997). Up
to v'=20, the results are in good agreement with very recent ab initio
calculations (Spielfiedel et al. 1999) and VUV laser
measurements(Stark et al. 1998). For v'=23 which is measured here for
the first time, and for v'=21 the measured oscillator strengths are
found to be significantly larger than the calculated ones. Combining
experimental and calculated results, a set of recommended oscillator
strengths is proposed.
